20/20 Vision, What is it?

Eye doctors, eye care professionals, optometrist or even people often use the term ’20/20 vision’ in an eye exam or when determining your eyesight prescription. Many people confuse this term for perfect vision. 20/20 vision is a term to indicate the sharpness or clarity of vision at a distance.

20/20 vision is always used to determine the clarity or sharpness of vision which is measure at a distance of 20 feet. People with 20/20 vision are able to see clearly at a distance of 20 feet which indicates that they have a good vision.

Other vision skills or abilities also include eye coordination, focusing ability, color vision or side vision which can contribute to your vision capabilities.

Some people are able to see well at a distance but struggle to focus on nearby objects. This condition can be caused by either hyperopia (far-sightedness) or presbyopia (inability to focus clearly). Others might see near objects clearly but would face difficulty while seeing distant objects which would appear blurred. This condition is caused by myopia (short-sightedness)

A detailed comprehensive eye examination from your eye doctor or optometrist will diagnose conditions which are affecting your ability to see clearly. Your optometrist will also provide you with a prescription note which contains all the details and optical numbers for your eyeglasses to make you see clearly and better.

The use of eyeglasses is mostly recommended to solve any vision problem.
